The Aujan Response to Covid-19

This short article explains how Aujan Group and number of its operating units have responded to Covid-19.  Our priority in all our actions has been the health and wellness of our employees and business partners.  In addition, we have taken steps to ensure business continuity wherever possible.

Aujan Group Holding developed and tested “Work from Home” procedures in mid-March and these were fully implemented one week later.  IT arrangements were made to ensure that every employee could participate in video conference calls as needed.  Given the resulting loss of normal social contact, a range of employee wellbeing and knowledge development programs were developed and weekly team calls were implemented to provide a forum to address questions or concerns.  The Group has also prepared a set of guidelines to help ensure a safe and effective return to the office when that point comes.  The lessons learned during the enforced period of working from home will also be used to develop new, employee centric ways of working that provide more personal flexibility in the coming years.

Aujan Coca Cola Beverage Company (ACCBC) worked closely with government authorities and implemented appropriate procedures across all factories including restrictive access, medical screenings, working from home and return to work policies to ensure business continuity and wellbeing of all staff. In number of cases, the ACCBC procedures were recognized by Government Authorities as “Best in class”.

The Oberoi Hotel has always placed the highest emphasis on the safety and wellbeing of its guests with exacting standards of cleanliness and hygiene. With the risks associated with Covid-19, and in keeping with World Health Organization and Ministry of Tourism guidelines, The Oberoi implemented a number of additional protective measures and has partnered with Bureau Veritas, the world leader in testing, inspection and certification services, to validate and review its safety and hygiene programme.

When on 23rd March 2020 the first Covid-19 case was reported in Mozambique, Rani Towers was well prepared with a focus on protecting staff, workers and guests in both the residential and commercial towers.

To support this objective and to ensure business continuity, the teams developed a Covid-19 standard operating procedure that included bi-lingual communication, printed and video messages that outlined in detail the WHO recommendations such as: washing hands, social distancing and mandatory use of masks.  This information was displayed on various platforms from building screens to posters mounted in key locations and newsletters that were aligned with the Mozambican Ministry of Health.
